Creating the Guidebook

The Guidebook is what we call Student Maid’s employee handbook. We’ve worked hard to make sure that every single word and policy in it reflects the heart and purpose of Student Maid, from our Core Values to the way we hold each other accountable to learning and growth. By sharing it with you, we hope to show you what it looks like when companies put people, not arbitrary rules, first.

In this guide, you’ll learn how we created a compassionate handbook—and how you can, too. You’ll find advice on:

* Discussions to have with your team

* How to use language to reflect your culture

* How to create guidelines for handling the stickiest of HR situations

* What language to use and which experts to consult

* How to get your team’s buy-in

* How to make sure your handbook stays relevant, no matter how your organization changes

You will see that there is not a price for this guide. We believe in a “pay-what-you-can” model, and want you to feel no obligation to pay if you do not have the resources. The amounts raised will help us produce more content to fuel our mission of helping people grow into the humans and leaders they want to be!
